Understanding the Standard
The student will understand how positive interactions with family, peers, and others contribute to positive social and emotional growth and development.
Essential Knowledge and Skills
The student will:
- describe characteristics of positive family interactions.
- define peers.
- describe positive ways to communicate with your family and friends. (verbal and non-verbal)
- identify why it is important to be a member of a family or group.
Sample Lessons
Absolutely Normal Chaos
After completing this lesson, students will be able to define extended family, and describe the various combinations of family members that can make up some families. Students will also be able to explain how strong communication skills are a key ingredient in the health of the family and discuss techniques for communicating, including listening skills
